Harpswell Garden Club Wins Four Awards at GCFM Convention
Besides enjoying beautiful gardens in Bar Harbor, interesting speakers, and an all around great time visiting with members from around the state, our club also won several awards! In the area of individual club recognition, the Harpswell Garden Club was the top club in the award for Club of Distinction with 395 total points! Points are given for the types of programs offered on a monthly basis, participation by members in other events (attendance at district, region and national meetings), and for new members who join within the year the award covers. This year we had 18 new members! And because so many new people joined the club, we also took home the Norine Veal Award for new members. We also came out on top for the Conservation Award with the establishment of our Berries for Birds Garden. And finally, our lovely yearbook took home the award for 1st place for large clubs.
