End of Season Gardening: clean-ups complete!
Our garden club volunteers made short work of the garden clean-up at both Harpswell Town Office and Centennial Hall. The weather cooperated this year, and sunny skies with mild temperatures enabled our groups to cut back perennials, dig dahlias and rake leaves from the beds without bundling in our winter coats or wearing rain gear!
The Gold Star Family Marker bed was also finished quickly: plants cut back, debris raked and bagged for disposal in less than an hour. The five volunteers then headed to the Naval Aviation Museum to tidy the beds in front of that building. The Memorial Garden in the museum’s courtyard was done the following day. Sadly, only two volunteers were able to attend that work session. But, because much work had been done in September for a Naval event, it only took them two hours to rake the leaves and trim back the few perennials in need of cutting.
Our gardens showcase the work done by the Harpswell Garden Club. The time each volunteer donates to the care of these gardens is invaluable. Thanks go out to everyone who was able to contribute time to the garden club.
