Becky Gallery hosts an Open Garden Day
It was a beautiful afternoon in South Harpswell on Monday for welcoming guests to your garden. And that’s exactly what our Club President Becky Gallery did! Both old and new members along with a few guests took the time to travel down Rt. 123 to see Becky’s flowers — many in full bloom. From lovely oriental lilies to various varieties of phlox to a Strawberry Sundae hydrangea — lots of color graced her garden! Turning the corner as you leave the front yard, you’re welcomed with beautiful views of the water! To the left you can see all the way to the Cribstone Bridge on Bailey Island. To the right, the vast expanse of Casco Bay opens before you. What a GREAT backdrop to have when you’re working in a garden!
Becky also had on hand a couple of early photos of her home which showed a “blank” canvas for a landscape. So everything that members saw was planted by Becky. Her Strawberry Sundae hydrangea sits right on the property line with her next door neighbor and Becky related that she and her neighbor actually share a flower bed on the property line! They “delineate” the line with small rocks so each will know where the actual property line in the flower bed is located. Becky said it gives both of them a chance to visit while they tend each side of their joint garden!
