A Beautiful Wedding Day in Harpswell

The HGC Wedding Committee came together once again to make a bride and groom very happy on their wedding day! In what was probably one of the largest weddings the Club has ever taken on (for 250 people and an array of floral arrangements), the wedding team came together to create beautiful arrangements for a seaside wedding in Harpswell.
The call went out for greens and flowers — enough to make twenty-five table

arrangements, two very large whiskey barrel arrangements, a six foot long floral swag, eleven bouquets, nine boutonnieres, and two wristlets! Members cut in gardens from Bath to Brunswick to Harpswell to find an array of colorful blooms. We were very fortunate to even find dahlias in bloom in our own cutting garden, thanks to Becky Gallery starting the tubers early at home this spring.
When the team of thirteen gals assembled in Jackie Pellerin’s garage, the onslaught of rain from Tropical Storm Elsa was yet to start. But by 10:00 a.m. it was pouring outside! But nothing could dampen the spirits of all the gals who worked together to put the beautiful arrangements together. On Saturday many from the team once again arrived at Jackie’s home to load everything into the backs of six different vehicles with one car taking the bouquets, boutonnieres and wristlets to deliver to the bride and her attendants, while the other five cars headed to the site of the reception — first to deliver the table arrangements — to an airplane hanger that had been converted to host the reception along with a very large tent! Then it was once again to the cars to deliver the floral swag and the barrel toppers to the site of the wedding — the very spacious yard of a neighbor (to the airfield) which sits high on a hill with Middle Bay and sailboats as a backdrop. With the help of two very sweet husbands, who carried ladders and the swag to the arch, the final touch was completed with the swag firmly attached to the top of the seven foot arch! All in all, it was another beautiful day to help create the dream wedding of another couple in Harpswell! Thanks to everyone — Committee members and flower donors — who worked to together to make their dream come true!
