Celebrating the Holidays with the Garden Club
As 2020 draws to a close, the Harpswell Garden Club has worked to make the holidays brighter. First, a few volunteers put together holiday mugs of greens.
We couldn’t meet as a club to assemble these small bits of cheerful greenery, but the work was accomplished by a handful of generous club members. The finished mugs were delivered to Harpswell Aging at Home, and will find their way into the homes of Harpswell seniors in need of holiday cheer.
Other volunteers met at Centennial Hall shortly after Thanksgiving, strung lights on the tree, wrapped the porch with garland, and added wreaths to the sign near the road. For added glow in this dreary year, the porch garland was also strung with lights. Wreaths were put on the front of the historical Union Church as well. Finally, wreaths with gold bows adorn the fronts of two historical buildings in Brunswick: the Pejepscot History Center and Joshua Chamberlain house. Both buildings received the attention of the club’s decorating elves, and helped the historical society in Brunswick add cheery decorations for the holiday season.
