Another Successful Fall Fest!
September 7 dawned gray, with a hurricane passing off the New England coast. The forecast was forbidding: rain, with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour as the day went on. But our Fun and Fabulous Fall Fest is “rain or shine,” so as a light rain began falling, many hardy garden club members and their spouses gathered at Centennial Hall to set up our tables and canopies for the event. Vendors shuttled from van to table with their wares. Coffee appeared in thermal jugs on the porch. And by starting time, all was ready for welcoming our guests, and the rain had disappeared! While skies remained cloudy, and a few wind gusts blew in, the day was, indeed, a fun and fabulous fest!
On behalf of the Fall Fest co-chairs, Peggy Shanler and Elisa Civello, and their committee, our thanks go out to the garden members and people of Harpswell who arrived to support our fund-raising effort. The day resulted in record-setting sales! Both the Yard Sale gang and the Baked Goods ladies exceeded all past sales records! The mums and bouquets brought in revenue, as did the gloves and aprons. We even garnered a new member!
Congratulations, Harpswell Garden Club, on a job well done!
