It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Our garden club has been busy, decorating for the holidays, and holding our monthly meetings. In November, we hosted Nancy Stedman from Little River Flower Farm in Buxton. Nancy talked to us about gardening for cutting flowers, offering advice on what types of flowers to grow, and how to get the best cut flowers from those plants.
After Thanksgiving, we got into the holiday mode, hanging wreaths at the Pejepscot Historical Society and Joshua Chamberlain House in Brunswick. Then the elves got busy decking the Hall (Centennial Hall) with garland, bows and wreaths, and lights on the tree. We celebrated the tree’s lighting with carols, cookies and cocoa, joined by over 40 hardy folks who braved the cold to welcome in the holiday season.
Our December meeting featured floral designer Jen Miller from Harmon’s of Portland. Jen delighted the club with 2 spectacular wreaths, a centerpiece for the holiday table, and a “Flemish” arrangement featuring roses, lilies and tulips. Four lucky ladies got to take home the wonderful designs.
Join us at our next meeting, February 21, 2019, at the Kellogg Church, when we host Emer Smith from the Maine Center for Disease Control, and learn about tick-borne diseases in Maine.
Happy Holidays!
