Lunch with Friends at the Grange
Thursday, February 8 arrived with clear skies and roads plowed. The Harpswell Garden Club’s Lunch With Friends volunteer crew was glad to see both. More than a dozen members of the garden club converged on Merriconeag Grange on Harpswell Neck to put on a lunch for over 40 friends–Lunch with Friends for Harpswell Aging at Home. Thanks to the creative kitchens of Elly Cary, Elisa Civello, Linda Clement, Jane Covey, Jo Johnson, Pat Laz, Mary Maroney, Susan Millar, Sue Pearson, Mary Robinson, Ann Standridge, Anne Taft and Tuckie Westfall, a delicious meal was set on the table for the enjoyment of all. Salads, breads, soups, casseroles and desserts were provided by these generous garden club members. Others pitched in to set tables, shovel snow from the entry, and wash up after the meal. Cheerful bouquets brightened the tables, and under the guidance of club president Elisa Civello and HAH coordinator Anne Taft, nearly four dozen people enjoyed a free meal with friends new and old.
