Upcoming Events for Harpswell Garden Club
As HGC President Ann Standridge has reminded us, there are several events on the horizon. First, please remember to send in your annual club dues. Membership forms were mailed in early March. If you don’t have one, contact Jane Harris or Becky Gallery. With the membership form was an invitation to our annual luncheon and meeting. It takes place on Thursday, May 18, at the Kellogg Church. Plan on arriving around 11:30 am for the lunch and a marvelous program by Jacinda Martinez, called “Fashion in the Raw: Haute Couture from Vegetables.” Cost is $25.
Meanwhile, on April 20, our club meets at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, to learn how to extend the gardening season. Nate Drummond and Gabrielle Gosselin of Six Rivers Farm in Bowdoinham will share their expertise. And on April 26, the Stroudwater District of Garden Club Federation of Maine, will hold its annual meeting and luncheon at the Spring Meadows Golf Club,59 Lewiston Road, Gray, Maine. Reservation forms are due by April 18. Print yours by clicking here. The day’s speaker will be Betsy Golan of Common Folk Farm.
And in June, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Freeport, the Garden Club Federation of Maine will hold its annual convention. This year’s convention is hosted by the garden clubs of the Stroudwater District. (That includes the Harpswell Garden Club and our club is responsible for operating the silent auction and making several large arrangements for the convention.) The event begins on the evening of June 19 with a reception for State Life Members and National Life Members. The convention continues through Wednesday, June 21.
