Clip Now or Itch Later: Brown Tail Moth Caterpillars Invade the Midcoast Area
Have you noticed small web-like nests in the tops of your trees? It could be the brown tail moth. The caterpillars will soon emerge, and their barbed hairs will be floating through the air. To many, this will cause an allergic reaction with itchiness on exposed skin, and perhaps even respiratory difficulties. The best way to reduce the likelihood of these reactions is to reduce the numbers of potential caterpillars. We have included a video on our Garden Resources page to illustrate the best way to remove and dispose of these pesky nests.
