Members Learn How to Garden Without Back Pain

Learning about the spine
Members turned out in force for the April meeting as we heard from Tina Phillips and Lori Gagnon, physical therapists at Mid Coast Hospital, who explained how we can save our backs from excessive pain while gardening. Tina and Lori had several different gardening tools to show us that are adapted to working while standing up as opposed to bending. Handouts were passed out showing exercises to do before gardening. Members even tried out a few exercises under the watchful eye of our physical therapists for the day!

Learning how to bend the proper way
Before the meeting started, GCFM President Suzanne Bushnell presented Club President Ann Standridge with a Certificate issued by the National Garden Club, honoring our Club for our 85th Anniversary.
