Suzanne Bushnell, former President of the Harpswell Garden Club and now the President of the Garden Club Federation of Maine, took members down “memory lane” on Thursday evening with a power point presentation called “Celebrating 85 Years of the Harpswell Garden Club”.

Suzanne has spent the past 14 months researching the Club’s many accomplishments through digging into old Civic Committee records, contacting the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, working with two different libraries to find old news articles, and interviewing long-time members to record their memories.

Members came early and were able to look at the many news articles, photos, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia on display that evening.  Adding to the atmosphere was vintage clothing from the 1930’s and 1940’s on display provided by Annette and Ken Dunn.

Suzanne and her husband Bill also donated a decorated 85 Year Anniversary cake for attendees to enjoy.  On hand to record the evening’s program was Dave Chipman for Harpswell Community TV.  As soon as he’s able to edit the program, it will be made available for viewing on the local Harpswell TV channel.
